James Hennessy, MA, LPC-Associate, NCC 

Supervised by Dr. Rosemary Hernandez, PhD, LPC-S, NCC, CCMHC

Licensed as an LPC-Associate, James Hennessy is a mental health counselor with a profound passion for supporting others in their efforts to overcome life’s challenges. 

Working from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions-Focused perspective, it is James’ goal to equip clients with the tools necessary to solve problems and elevate their well-being by combining the knowledge gained in a university setting with the experience earned by working with diverse clients. 

He has gained experience from treating clients presenting with a broad assortment of diagnoses ranging from post-traumatic stress, generalized anxiety, and clinical depression to schizophrenia spectrum and personality disorders. 

James, a veteran of the US Army, holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology (2014) with an emphasis in clinical mental health counseling, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (2006) with a minor in Legal Studies, and is currently enrolled in St. Mary’s Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral program. 

When not attending lectures at St. Mary’s University or working with clients, James may be found hiking, fishing, off-roading, or exercising his 2 year-old German Shepherd, Kylo.
